I watch the time slip past me
In neverending glee,
The shadows of what has been
And rare glimpse of what to be.
The time returns the gaze intently.
It razes blade against my neck.
I covet kiss of it, so tender,
Amidst the broken ill intent.
A clear liquid spills between us,
The marble of the floor unstained.
I take its hand, a hapless dreamer
And walk away with it, in shame.
He watches time slip past him now
He knows its start and ruthless end
Sun rises, killing twilight shadows
Between the righteous and simply dead...
