A man and the sea

 The ocean’s red with dawn

Waves wind’s aimless pawns

They batter shore,

Complain in whispers

Salt bonded brothers

Restless sisters

A speck of dust amongst this fire burns

White, gleaming, contradicting force

A sail high into the sky

A captain, lonely, fearsome

Grows out of the deck

With all their might

Amongst storm’s whispers

It’s their last moment, point of no return

The ship’s, the captain’s hope no longer burns

And yet the mast is proud and tall

And still the hands unshaken, firm

A mouth, agape, a hungry maw

The wave, a monster, pure and raw

The ocean’s dark with night

The stillness all bereft of light

A memory, so proud, strong

A captain and their ship, their song!
