I wish I could shed bitter tears
Screw my face shut and wail
Let vulnerability prevail
Despite my worst, self-conscious fears
Despite the limits, and the bonds
Instead of holding like a stone
My feelings, spring-like tight
In pressure cooker of my mind
And eyes, and ears that judge, observe
Their weight, it smothers, cuts so deep
Into my splayed, concrete-wrapped nerves
Ignoring who I am in one wide sweep
I wish I could take all this back
And put a fake smile on my face
For once I wish I could just stop
And fall into someone's embrace...
