Wake up, bright lights
The blinding welcome
The wholesome journey
New day, new path, start, run
But you are on a gurney
The bullets whistle, sizzle
The moment, gone, so brittle
The mud, the dirt, the iron
Gunpowder dulling senses
Cursing all for being born
The bloody mess, no answers
Crawl out of the dirt
Squeeze through the dust
Where trees with fire flirt
Where black hole rusts
It spits led, fire, end
But crawl, but fight you must
The fireball in waiting. Stand!
And as the force erupts
And as your limbs go numb
The time just stops
And death so shaken, dumb
It picks up your pieces
In a final tight embrace
No medals, just pure stillness
When darkness we are forced to face…
